All Saints' Day Flowers: Honouring Loved Ones with a Grand Bouquet at Home
Every 1st of November, a grand bouquet at home or at a loved one's to honour those who have passed: a simple, beautiful tradition to make your own.
Why give a bouquet of flowers for All Saints' Day?
Giving a bouquet for All Saints' Day honours those we have lost where their memory lives every day: at home. In France, 1 November, All Saints' Day, and 2 November, All Souls' Day, are the two days of remembrance of the year. Bringing flowers to the memory of loved ones is a gesture as old as the feast itself. A grand bouquet brings it into the home, in view of the whole family, for the whole week.
At L'Atelier d'Olivier, we compose All Saints' Day bouquets every year for those who wish to pay this tribute at home, or at the home of a parent who carries the family's memory.
The All Saints' Day bouquet, a tradition to begin in your family
The All Saints' Day bouquet is a tradition every family can begin this year. Some celebrations have their own flowers: lily of the valley on 1 May, roses on Valentine's Day. All Saints' Day deserves its own, at the heart of the home.
Make it an appointment. Every 1st of November, a grand bouquet placed beside a photograph, a candle, a cherished object. Repeated year after year, the gesture becomes a family tradition: children remember it, then pass it on.
This appointment comes down to three gestures:
- choosing a colour that resembles the person you honour;
- placing the bouquet at the heart of the home, close to their memory;
- gathering the family around it, on the day of the All Saints' lunch.
Why choose a grand bouquet for All Saints' Day?
A grand All Saints' Day bouquet fills the home for the whole holiday week, and gives memory the place it holds in the family. You see it as you come in, you find it again each morning, and every visitor pauses before it. At the 1 November lunch, set at the centre of the table, it becomes the starting point of conversations and of the memories people share.
Our bouquets are chosen by colour and by scale. Sizes S, M and L are carried in one hand; from XL upwards, it takes two. Our Prestige bouquets are carried in both arms: placed in a room, they transform it.
Who should you give an All Saints' Day bouquet to?
The All Saints' Day bouquet is given to those who keep the memory of a loved one:
- a parent or grandparent, who carries the memory of the whole family;
- a friend, a neighbour, a colleague who lost someone this year: the first All Saints' Day matters especially;
- the person hosting the family for the 1 November lunch;
- yourself, to honour those dear to you at home.
Living far away, or elsewhere on the day? The bouquet arrives in your place, at the home of the person who will make the journey. It simply tells them: I am with you today.
Which colours to choose for an All Saints' Day bouquet?
For All Saints' Day, L'Atelier d'Olivier composes three colour harmonies, each with its own meaning:
- White: peace, contemplation, light.
- Warm autumn colours: the affection and warmth of a life we celebrate.
- Red and white: deep love and serenity together.
Our florists compose each bouquet with the finest flowers of the day, in the colour you choose.
What message to write on an All Saints' Day card?
On the card of an All Saints' Day bouquet, a few words are enough, and they are read again for a long time:
- "Thinking of you on this day, with all our love."
- "In memory of [first name], who stays in our hearts."
- "With you today, with all my heart."
